Meow

Nirit Levav Packer - Israel

Nirit Levav Packer completed her fashion studies at the Parsons School of Design in New York in 1987. After developing her career as a fashion designer, she ventured into new fields and expanded her knowledge in jewelry design, ceramics, and iron sculpture.

For the “Baku Steel Art 2024” metal symposium, Nirit Levav Packer created the sculpture titled “Meow”: “Cats are an integral part of city life—they are everywhere, finding their way into our homes and hearts. We feed them, pet them, and in return, they provide us with comfort. By caring for them, we develop a deeper sense of responsibility for all animals. The sculptures I create from recycled materials, like the cats we cherish, invite touch and interaction. By merging the ideas of cats and sustainable art, I aim to create works that express our responsibility to protect the planet and its inhabitants.”
