Rashad Alakbarov | Azerbaijan

Rashad Alakbarov studied Artistic Metal at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts and later studied History and Theory of Fine Arts at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts (ASFA). He is a People’s Artist of Azerbaijan.

For the “Baku Steel Art 2024” metal symposium, Rashad Alakbarov created the sculpture “See Yourself from an Outside Perspective!”: “This installation is a fragment of a male portrait. The pupil is made from a mirror. The viewer must slightly lean to see their reflection, which symbolizes the effort and need to step out of our comfort zone in order to achieve a goal. The concept of this installation advocates for the need to step outside our comfort zones and respond to global changes, including climate change and ecological issues.”
